The Historical Society of Kent County offers a variety of programs and activities for members, the general public, and visitors.

Membership events include our popular Annual Dinner in April; Country Driving Tour in June; Tavern Nights at the Geddes-Piper House; Garden Gatherings; and our annual Wassail Party. We welcome groups for a tour of our museum, a walking tour, our annual Chestertown House Tour, Ghost Walks of Historic Chestertown,and other special events.

History Happy Hour, our First Friday gatherings for history lovers, with wine, cheese, interesting programs and stimulating discussion. From 4:00-6:00 PM at the Geddes-Piper House on the First Friday of most months.

The Chestertown House Tour
, the day that Chestertown opens its doors! One of the longest running historic house tours in Maryland, with a dozen or more properties open to ticket holders, this is a lovely way to spend a fall afternoon in the exquisite historic district of Chestertown, named by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as a Distinctive Destination.

Ghost Walks of Historic Chestertown
, in which we show that there’s more to history then meets the eye with a perfect combination of history and haunts. Guides will lead ticket holders through the darkened streets of Chestertown by candlelit lantern, sharing strange accounts collected from historic district home and business owners; true tales of murder and mayhem; and folklore that still lingers from the region’s British and African heritage. October schedule or by appointment throughout the year.
