Maps

Kent County and Queen Anne's County from Lake, Griffing and Stevenson's 1877 Atlas; Maps of Delmarva and the Eastern Shore

Our thanks to Craig O'Donnell for his time
and effort researching and compiling these map files.

These maps come from the Lake, Griffing & Stevenson atlas of Kent and Queen Anne's Counties, 1877. The thumbnails take you to larger maps which you can examine online or copy for your own genealogy site. We have about 60 digital maps and we can't put them all online.

Chestertown itself is printed at an extremely large size. There are two maps of the general Chestertown vicinity and a small but readable Chestertown, 1877 (a 240K JPEG file).

High-resolution color laser printed copies of these maps, on ivory granite 8-1/2" by 11" paper, are available. Several maps are available at 8-1/2" by 14" and some can be ordered actual-size, approx. 20" by 27" depending on the map. Society members get a discount. .

Crumpton is the site of Callister's Ferry across the Chester River. This was the ferry crossing upriver from Chestertown. Crumpton is locally notorious for its auction sales every Wednesday.

Delmarva Region

These interesting Delmarva regional maps are in our files. The Chesapeake & Delaware Canal maps are from a stock prospectus ca. 1828 while the Wilmington map is a copy of a 1736 map which dates from 1845.
