Chestertown Historic House Tour
Saturday, October 6, 2012 1-5 PM
This is the day that the celebrated historic houses of Chestertown open their doors! Over three centuries of American architecture are reflected in the homes and buildings of this charming historic river port, once a center of international Colonial trade. This is one of the oldest regional house tours; join visitors from throughout the Mid-Atlantic as they stroll through the streets of a community named by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as one of the nation’s Distinctive Destinations, touring a dozen or more historic houses and properties. Enjoy a traditional Eastern Shore lunch at historic Emmanuel Church Hall, the seat of the Episcopal Church in America. This year’s tour theme is The New Republic and the War of 1812, as ticket holders step back in time in properties that stood during this transformative period in history. War of 1812 topics will be presented at seminars Friday and Saturday.
