James Anderson House
Cannon Street

Incorporating a 1733 frame house, James Anderson enlarged his dwelling by building a 5 bay brick house on Lot No. 97 on the plat of Chestertown.

Behind the brick section were additional rooms, including a long narrow room and porch. These were covered by a lean-to roof originating at attic level which allowed the same amount of space on the second story. The profile resulted in one of Chestertown's few catslide roofs. Sometime after 1877, the house was converted to a duplex with the original kitchen removed and two kitchens located in the back addition under the shed roof.
